LOUISVILLE, KY — Brad Woolridge, a retired Louisville Metro Police detective with 30 years in public safety, has officially filed his candidacy for Kentucky State Representative in House District 46.
While still in high school, Woolridge began working with the Fern Creek Fire Department. He later rose to the rank of Sergeant with the Highview Fire Department. He went on to serve as a dispatcher, officer, and detective with Louisville Metro Police before joining the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, where he currently serves as a civilian instructor. He is a member of FOP Lodge #25 and actively supports Special Olympics Kentucky alongside his wife, Louisville Metro Councilwoman Ginny Mulvey-Woolridge.
“In my years working with officers and first responders, I’ve seen where the breakdown happens between policy decisions and the people carrying them out,” said Woolridge. “Good intentions alone aren’t enough. I’m running to help translate what’s happening in our neighborhoods today into solutions that actually work for everyone. My family and I have put a lot of thought into this. I want to bring my perspective to Frankfort as a voice that understands both sides and can help get us working together.”
Woolridge is running to tackle the issues facing Louisville families: safer communities, a more affordable cost of living, and stronger schools. With three decades of experience working through the city’s toughest challenges alongside local leaders and first responders, he’ll bring a grounded perspective to Frankfort.
The Republican primary is scheduled for May 19, 2026, with the general election on November 3, 2026. To learn more about Brad Woolridge’s campaign, contact Sarah Burton at (502) 836-8753.
